Dr. Mikael Lövkvist, Ph.D., LPC, BC-DMT

Hello! My name is Mikael Lövkvist. I am a Doctor in Clinical Psychology, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Board-Certified Dance / Movement therapist (BC-DMT). I have worked in the field of psychology since 1998. In addition to my private practice work, I also serve as an Adjunct Professor in counseling at Southern Methodist University. I have a wealth of experience of working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, psychological trauma, dissociation, grief, and relationship issues. My doctorate training further enhanced my knowledge and skills base in the treatment of psychological trauma, including situational, developmental, and complex trauma. I apply an integrative perspective and approach to my work with clients. This approach primarily draws on humanistic, depth psychology, emotional, cognitive, somatic, mindfulness based, transpersonal, and expressive-experiential methods of psychotherapy. In other words, I welcome the messages and wisdom of the wholeness of your being: body, mind, and soul. My goal is to support you to not only achieve symptom relief, but to also invite you into deepened states of self acceptance, self worth, and self compassion. I view this profession as a calling, and I feel that it is my profound privilege to be able to support my clients.
